FAQ #287: What rules apply to the Chat Network?


Chat-specific rules

1.Respect the Head Master, Assistant Head Master and Professors. We have the most power to run this chatroom. However, you are not restricted to defend your side in case that they had done something wrong or you think that they are abusing their powers. We like to listen on your concerns and we are open to your suggestions but please do it nicely. Rude comments are not going to be tolerated,however.

2.Don't ask to be promoted. You earn this by doing your part in the chatroom. You are welcome to help the moderators and admins in entertaining visitors but please don't rub this on our faces. We will decide whether it is time for you to get a rank or not.

3.Please be nice to your fellow chatters. If you are one of those grammar-nazis, please refrain yourself from correcting others time to time or if you can't hold it to yourself, do it in a nice way. If you are having arguments with other members, please take it in another room. Don't make offensive statements and all kinds of discrimination will not be tolerated in this room. Respect is the key. If you done anything and didn't meant it to be like that, apologize.

4.Use brackets when you are out of character (not rping/just chatting). ), } and ] are considered brackets. You are welcome to use any variety that you want like the backward versions of the ones mentioned above. If using the /me command, the bracket rule is also enforced.

5.Keep the chat room clean. Any sexual explicit roleplays will result to an instant ban for this is against Deviant art’s policy. Also, the terms Yaoi and Yuri are not allowed to be used for it has other interpretation in the country where the words originated. However, you can use M/M or F/F if you want to ask for an rp of this kind of pairing.

6.Members can idle without the threat of being kicked out by the admins but we are not going to be responsible to any message that has been sent to you while you're away. If you tend to use an away message,make sure that you'll be away for a short time. If you're going to sleep, please don't put an away message that telling you're asleep. Just say good night, stop chatting and go to sleep. It's fine with us.

7. Got a bot?Please note us on why do you need your bot to be in our room before we allow you to use it. Bots of the mods is automatically approve though

8.And last but not the least: Have fun.

Character Submission Format

NEW RULE ON CHARACTER SUBMISSION

Character sheets should be ‘noted’ to ~DarkSideAcademia and not to be submitted in the journal. The headmaster will compile them in the gallery so that members have an easy access on their characters.

Apperance:(Hair and Eye color, height, body built,etc. please do note that we encourage you describe your character through words and not by posting a link.)

School Uniform:(Minor alterations are accepted. Color coding is use to know what year the students are. white polo,black tie and pants for the freshman and sophomores,dark blue long-sleeves and black pants for juniors and black long-sleeves and pants for the seniors. For the girls, the blouse and long sleeves will bear the same color of the men's uniform but skirt will betwo inches above the knee and the colors will be black for the rest of the year. Summer uniform is also implemented. ()

School Background: (this includes what year your chara is and what kind of student he is)

Personality: (a little insight about your character’s attitude.i.e How does your character react towards people and situations? )

History: (a little information about your character’s life and past significant to his/her present life. Please avoid the amnesia thing..unless you can tell the reason why your character is suffering amnesia)

Other: (any information that you want to tell? This part is rather optional to be filled. If none, just leave it)

Age: 19
Apperance: Hair is short and black,always fixed in’semi-spiked' style by using a LOT of hair gell (and I mean a lot). Eye color is blood red and his height is 5'9. Seiji's body built is just right, although he can be called 'chubby'
School Uniform: Dark blue longs sleeves and pants for he is a junior student. Although there are times that he loosens 4 buttons of his uniform to be 'different' among others.
School Background: Seiji is your average student. If he wants to get high grades, he will study with all of his heart to get it. If he hates a subject, he will put less attention on it. When it comes to other students,he is nice to them. His goofy attitude can brighten a friend's or ruin an enemy's day. When it comes to academics, his interest revolves around the 'supernatural' beings that 'creates' and 'destroys' the world.
Personality::He is one of the jokers around the school and that made him popular with the girls. Seiji doesn't fail to make anyone laugh with his annoying jokes and water gun squirting. Also, he’s a hot-tempered guy for when he easily gets mad when a joke is done to him. A person who’s interested with anything paranormal and such, he would only smile whenever he listens to horror stories but when he’s the one who tells them, the people who listens will surely leave their lights open for few nights.Also, Seiji’s main forte is handling guns for he had been trained for it. He can shoot a moving target with eyes covered for he uses his ears to ‘look’ at those kinds of targets
Other: Seiji transferred in Dark Academia since his former school doesn't have enough knowledge and subjects to accommodate students like him.Remembering that his fiancee attends this special Academy that caters to the people of the 'underworld',he decides to continue his studies there.

Note:despite of the journal's submission sample, it doesn't have to be that long. All we want is a complete details of the character using our character submission skeleton.

The Classes so Far:

Exchange Students- want to try this room if it’s the right place?Then go ahead, drag your rp buddies and have your rp here. You are given one chance to use this room for your rps as long as you abide the deviant Art and chatroom’s rules and regulation. If you wish to settle down,please note your character sheet to :devDarkAcademia:

Freshmen, Sophomore, Juniors and Seniors- these will be your starting class.

Scholars- Slightly higher than the classes above.In order to be promoted to this particular class, you have to recruit more than 5 people or be an active rper inside the room.

Mod Applicants- If a certain candidate is submitted, we will promote him/her in this class. For two weeks, he/she will be observed and base on the performance, she/he will be promoted to a specific mod class or higher. Alternatively, If a moderator or admin in duty suspects any potential mods from the scholars group, he/she will be promoted to this priv class and will be observed for weeks.

Mod classes are the following

Headmaster- The top of the privclass. The ones in this class are, obviously, the founders of the chat. We are the same people as every member of the room and can make mistakes but it doesn't mean that we are not looking for ways to improve this rp chatroom.

Assistant_Headmaster- The people in this class are the ones trusted by the Headmasters themselves. They know the bits and pieces of the chat. Also, they also handle the candidates for the Mod_Applicants privclass of the room.

Professors- If there are some things that you want to know and the Student government can’t answer some certain questions, you then turn to the Professors. They have the power to promote a certain enrollee t their respective class and can ban violators permanently.

Student_Government- Aside from the power to kick the members out from the room, you can ask them how this rp chatroom works, tell their suggestions and opinions. In short, they are your everyday reliable student body.

-Please tab a Professor (or a mod applicant) to have your submission checked. In case that none of them reply, then you can call the attention of assistant headmaster and the head master himself.

-Only one character is needed to be accepted in this chatroom. However, feel free to post a new character should you wish to have it as a reference. I do recommend that you also post a copy of your submitted character in your own journal.

-Despite of the room setting and theme, any kinds of rp are allowed here. Just state on your ad what genre/theme of rp you want and wait for responses.

As for now,the rp chat #DarkAcademia is still under renovation. The owners are doing their best to organize everything, from rules to promotion system,to give you the best roleplaying experience for potential members.

Upon approval, you'll see your username to be promoted in the Mod_Applicants class. You'll have all the privs of a mod, from promoting members to ban. And if I see you doing well, you get the position

P.S: if you're a mod of another room, you can give me the name of the room so that I can ask for your reputation. Depending on the comment that I'll receive, you may get the position you desire in a snap or still undergo the Applicant's class.

The moderators and admins has the most power over a chatroom. The members usually looks up to these people, judging their skills in maintaining peace and order in handling problems and situations


1.Be nice to the newbies,no matter how annoying they are. We all know that we’ve gone through that stage. If you think that they are starting to shorten your patience, leave them to me. If I can’t handle such manner, this is the time were I give a signal to kick them out of the room.
2. We are meant to be respected but it doesn’t mean that we’re always right. Don’t kick and/or ban them just because they noticed something wrong or they are complaining about how the room is being moderated. Fixing it in much mature way will be appreciated.
3. A moderator can’t mod a room if he/she is idling. Going somewhere for a minute or two is ok. If you need to go out for an hour or more or if you are going to sleep and need to leave the computer open, please refrain from staying in the main chatroom. I created a ‘faculty’ room for that purpose and you are welcome to stay there. We don’t want someone to blame us when something happened just because we’re sleeping…right?
4. Do not vent in the chatroom, whether you had a bad day, pissy, mad or something. The members had nothing to do with what happened so there is no need to drag them in your problems. I advice you to just keep quiet or leave the chatroom. Simple as that.
5. Be fair in promoting members. A person who submitted their character is automatically promoted to the race that they choose. Mod positions will be subject to keen observation and approval of other chatters. Please don’t promote anyone if the person is a close friend, a moderator of another chat or someone who suddenly comes in and offer help…but of course, there might have some exceptions. Also, when you demote or promote someone, please note all the professors and up (except when they witness it) and state your reason. A spammer is automatically banned from the chatroom. Anyone who disrespects other members should be warned…then banned when he/she continues.
6. We all have our own lives behind the computer and it is understandable that you can’t log on and stay 24/7 to monitor the activities inside the chatroom. However, if you need to leave for about a week or more due to important reasons, try your best to send a note to the HeadMaster..the Assistant Head Master,stating the reason of your absence in order for you to keep your position. Fail to do that, the HeadMaster will temporarily remove you to the position to avoid cluttering the mod class with inactive mods. Upon return and stating your absence, I will put you back in your proper place.


Upon accepted the responsibilities of the room, the room mods and admins shall abide to these rules.There are exceptions if you think that your explanation/reason is valid
